Amershield Performance Polyurethane

Amershield is a high-gloss, high-build, abrasion and chemical resistant topcoat that can be applied over steel and concrete substrates.  Amershield is an aliphatic polyurethane with a unique acrylic and polyester blend that provides superior performance in abusive environments when compared to other aliphatic polyurethanes.  Please see the Amershield Data Sheet or Amershield VOC Data Sheet for application and service recommendations.

Amershield is available in two VOC formulas,  standard Amershield can be applied in areas with a regulatory VOC of 270 grams per liter and greater while Amershield VOC can be applied in areas with a regulatory VOC of 170 grams per liter and greater (California Architectural Rule).

Amershield VOC meets the industrial maintenance coating regulations for California.

Amershield and Amershield VOC can be thinned with one of several thinners.  The most common thinner is Amercoat 65 for use in Amershield and many of our customers thin up to 16 ounces per gallon.  Please see the Amershield or Amershield VOC data sheet.

Amershield and Amershield VOC can also be thinned with Amercoat 911 thinner for OEM customers that are meeting HAPS requirements.  These customers usually thin no more than 16 ounces per gallon.  Please see the Amershield or Amershield VOC data sheet.

If you are seeking the best gloss and flow out from Amershield and Amershield VOC, Amercoat 923 is an outstanding thinner.  We cannot supply Amercoat 923 parts of Texas due to air quality requirements.  Many of our customers apply Amershield with up to 16 ounces of Amercoat 923.  Please see the Amershield or Amershield VOC data sheet.

Amercoat 851 reduces the surface tension of Amershield and Amershield VOC.  Amercoat 851 can be helpful when roller and brush applying Amershield or Amershield VOC.  While you can use up to 1/2 pint of Amercoat 851 per mixed gallon of Amershield or Amershield VOC, we suggest you start with an ounce per gallon.  Please review the Amercoat 851 data sheet for mixing instructions.

Amershield and Amershield VOC can be accelerated with Amercoat 866M to enhance dry to touch and dry through times.  866M is "Liquid Sunshine" and should be used judiciously with no more that 1.5 ounces per gallon.  Please see 866M data sheet for application instructions.

San Diego's Petco Park sports an Amershield finish over Amercoat 68HS zinc rich primer which provides excellent corrosion resistance for the structural steel that is only a few hundred yards from San Diego Harbor.
